Glengyle (Kilkerran)

When Campbeltown risked losing its legal status as a whisky region for having too few distilleries, the Springbank family rebuilt Glengyle — silent since 1925 — and reopened it in 2004. Bottled as Kilkerran (the old name for Campbeltown), its whisky has quickly earned a reputation of its own: lightly peated, citrusy and mineral, with the town's briny signature. A distillery revived not for profit first, but to keep a region alive.
