The world's largest 100% rye distillery
Founded in Calgary in 1946 to turn surplus prairie grain into spirit, Alberta Distillers became the world's great rye specialist almost by accident of geography — surrounded by some of the best rye-growing land on earth. Rye is a notoriously sticky, foaming, difficult grain to mash, and ADL's mastery of 100% rye fermentation is so complete that revered American bottlings have been built on its stock for decades, usually without saying so. In 2021 the house stepped out of the shadows: Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye was named World Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
Rye without compromise — dill, baking spice, dark bread and enormous texture.
