Tobermory

The postcard-coloured harbour front of Tobermory hides Mull's only distillery, one of Scotland's oldest, which cannily makes two malts in one still-house: unpeated Tobermory — fresh, herbal, faintly minty — and richly smoky Ledaig, distilled in alternating campaigns. After centuries of silences and revivals the little island house now enjoys cult attention, with old Ledaig bottlings whispered about alongside far grander names.
