When Arran opened in 1995 it was Scotland's first new island distillery in living memory — built at Lochranza, where golden eagles delayed construction by nesting above the site. Its unpeated house style is bright and orchard-fruited with a citrus snap, matured increasingly in sherry hogsheads, while the peated Machrie Moor range nods to the island's wilder moors. Proof that a new distillery could become a classic within a single generation.
