The GlenDronach

For sherry-cask devotees, GlenDronach is a pilgrimage. This eastern Highland house matures almost everything in Pedro Ximénez and oloroso butts, producing malts of extraordinary darkness — fig, black cherry, treacle and leather — that rival any sherried whisky in Scotland. Long overshadowed, it was revived after 2008 with a run of celebrated vintage releases, and its 15-year-old Revival is a modern benchmark of the style.
